VISION: The
PCC will be widely recognized as a capable provider of relevant
technical training, managerial education and leadership development
opportunities for its members. Outstanding professional training
and education will enhance biannual meeting attendance and expand
the organization's membership base.
IMPLEMENTATION
STRATEGY: High quality professional development
will be provided to PCC members through a variety of educational
methods including, but not limited to: formal presentations
by experts; case studies and featured port presentations;
workshops and seminars; fieldtrips; round table discussions;
electronic mail discussion groups; newsletter articles, web
site postings, member consultations with each other, demonstrations,
multimedia programs, etc. training and educational program
effectiveness will be periodically evaluated and assessments
of future professional development needs of members will
take place as appropriate.
OBJECTIVES
1.
Provide organizational leadership for professional development
training and education to enhance the technical knowledge, managerial
skills and leadership capability of members.
2.
Develop and implement a conference survey to periodically gain
member evaluations of training and education sessions along with
their future professional development needs.
3.
Facilitate "Call of the Ports" and "Lunch with
a PCC Friend" during conferences to nurture member relationships
and encourage professional linkages between meetings.
4.
Help featured ports to develop effective presentations for conferences,
when requested.
5.
Assist the Board of Directors to identify biannual conference
themes.
6.
Identify audio-visual equipment and seating needs for upcoming
conferences, sharing this information with the Executive Secretary
in a timely way.
7.
T&E Committee Co-Chairs will meet with the Board of Directors
to integrate functions and collaborate as appropriate.
8.
Gather information and present educational programs to assist
members in resolving emerging issues and critical problems.
9.
Maintain email discussion groups to enable members to quickly
sharing ideas, challenges and solutions with each other between
conferences.
10.
As requested, assist the Board of Directors in redesigning and
expanding the Web site to include professional development information.
11.
Identify and prioritize funding needed to further training and
education objectives, sharing this with the Board of Directors
as appropriate.
12.
Explore opportunities for expanding professional recognition
awards for members and the organization.
